Na pompi – the village pump

“Imagine a day when every household had a strictly measured allowance of water.”

At the end of the 19th century, a large water reservoir known as “Na pompi” was built here, named after its manual metal pump. Before there was a water supply system, drinking water was so precious that during the Italian administration, it was strictly rationed using coupons known as “tešere”. Look at the trough: the excess water was used for washing, cleaning vegetables, and watering livestock.
