The Šavrinkas stopped travelling long ago, but their name still lives on in everyday speech. When someone says “Vero si ko Šavrinka!” (“You’re just like a Šavrinka!”), they mean a person who is hardworking, resilient, resourceful and persistent. The expression shows that the Šavrinkas remain not only part of history but also part of the collective memory of Istria’s inhabitants.
