THE PATHS OF THE ŠAVRINKE
THE ŠAVRINKAS KNEW HOW TO MAKE PEOPLE LAUGH
“They were approachable and kind, but also persistent in trying to sell their goods, often pressing what they were offering into the customers’ hands: ‘Yes, they would push it right into your hands. Take it, take it.’ Some had a pronounced sense of humour and were often the subject of anecdotes, while others were more reserved and serious.”
The Šavrinkas were approachable, talkative and witty. While offering their goods at markets or visiting their customers, they often won buyers over with humour. Their directness and persistence live on in numerous stories still passed down orally today.
Did you know?
Although they had to be determined in trade, many people remember them especially for their cheerful spirit and their ability to gain buyers’ trust through conversation.
