“Here stood the gates. And through them, one set off into the world.”

The name “Na Vrateh” (At the Gates) recalls the entrance to the former Krkavče fortress. From here, the Vela Pot (Great Path) descends toward the Dragonja valley; back in the Middle Ages, it served as the main connection to the valley, and later became the route taken by the Šavrinke into Istria.
