VREŠJE HOUSE – A LIVING MUSEUM

“Step closer: almost the entire life of a family unfolded under a single roof.”

A typical house combined a kitchen with an open hearth, a sleeping area, a cellar (kantina), and a stable (štala). Beside the house stood the laundry site (perišče), where women washed their family’s clothes as well as the laundry of the town gentry. Listen closely: it was not only the thudding of beaten laundry that echoed here, but also news, songs, and stories.
